It's All Part of the Journey

It's All Part of the Journey

I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had a change of perspective in the past few years. and in the past few months there have been multiple times that I have literally stopped and marveled at the amount of things I have come to re-think.

This happened to me a few days ago. on my way to church. I was having a quick chat with my cousin and as often happens when the two of us get together by telephone, I had a huge revelation about my perspective.
(If you don;t already have someone in your life who sharpens you like iron, find someone.)

As we were talking, I realized that for most of my 56 years, I had the belief that life was supposed to be good.  Ok, obviously, not-good things happen in life, I've experienced some of those....but I have been living my life thinking that those "bad" things that happened, were obstacles and roadblocks to my good life; almost like detours that we come across when we're on a road trip. I thought they were keeping me from the things I wanted in life.

And sure, God does have a great life planned for us!
It is supposed to be good.  He doesn't send bad things to us,
not even to teach us things; that's not God's nature.
However, driving & chatting the other day, I realized,
it's ALL part of the journey!!

And I laughed, as I'm sure God did too!
I have been so destination focused (not a new revelation) that I hadn't really looked at the obstacles as just part of the journey.  To piggy-back off the last Blog Post, those roadblocks were just opportunities to RECALCULATE!!!
 recalculating.html

It's not that I didn't know any of this before. It's that I hadn't really seen it as just part of the journey.  Instead of letting those setbacks ruin the whole trip, we need to see them for what they are.

Sometimes, they give us the opportunity to slow down, take a look around and make adjustments.  Sometimes, they fuel us to move forward and to push through. Sometimes, circumstances stop us in our tracks and threaten to take us out.

But we get to choose how we respond to those roadblocks.  With Jesus on our side, we ALWAYS win for if God is for us, who can be against us?

As I shared my revelation with my cousin, we both thought of Romans 8:28:
Picture
This Scripture is just one of the many reasons why I love Jesus!! No matter what comes our way, no matter what we face, God will always - did you see that? ALWAYS, work ALL things together for good!!! Oh but there are conditions. All things work together for good to those who love God and are the called according to His purpose.  We must love God which is explained by Jesus Himself as follows:
"Jesus answered and said to him,

“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word;
and My Father will love him,
and We will come to him
and make Our home with him
.""

~John 14:28
When we have a personal relationship with the Father, through Jesus Christ, and we keep His word, we are demonstrating that we love Him and we are called according to His purpose.  Jesus came to reconcile us to God the Father, to bring us into right standing with Him and to restore us to the Kingdom of God!  One of the benefits of that restored relationship is the promise of Romans 8;28.

And I LOVE how that verse begins:  WE KNOW!!!
When we know Jesus and we know the Father and we know Holy Spirit, then we KNOW His promises are Yes and Amen because we BELIEVE!
Picture
Believing is all that He requires of us! When we believe, we keep His word, we love Him, we are called according to His purposes and we are a part of His family and His Kingdom!!

If you do not have this restored relationship with God but would like to, ask Him for it, in your own words....nothing fancy or practised....just from your heart, right now, right where you are.  He will make Himself known to you if you only believe He wants to have this relationship with you!

Jesus, through His Holy Spirit will lead you through the journey of your life.  He will walk every step with you. He will never leave you. He will always forgive you and love you.  He will direct your steps and show you the way! Only believe!!!!

RECALCULATING

RECALCULATING

Are Mistakes Good, Bad or Just
Happy Accidents??

My Journey on the Road to Perfection!!

Have you ever been driving in an unknown area - you know, somewhere you’ve never been before??
At some point you say to yourself,
“I think I may have made a wrong turn somewhere!”, because what you see around you isn’t looking like what you were expecting?

That’s me! At 56 yrs old, my husband of 28+years and I, have raised 3 wonderful daughters to adulthood and yet there are places in my life where I realize, I have made some wrong turns!

Picture
You see, I had been on the road to
perfection for a really long time.
At first, I was just sailing along through life,
enjoying the ride, having a great time!!!
Like listening to the directions on a GPS,
I was following the messages I heard
around me about what success and living
the "perfect or good" life was supposed to be.

Speed Bumps & Pot Holes

Picture
I was travelling down that road, believing I was headed in the right direction
until I started hitting speed bumps and potholes!
In hindsight, the speed bumps
were opportunities to slow down.
We find them on roads where driving too fast could endanger what's in the area...usually vulnerable people...like children!
Pot holes, on the other hand, are caused by the environment and will damage the road ahead,
making our drive, bumpy.
They were clear indicators for me to drive carefully before I did damage to my "vehicle".
But I didn't slow down, drive carefully or really even stop to ask directions.

Picture
There were so many places where I could have made changes because I was making choices that were not productive for my life.
When I started paying attention and questioning which way I was going, I began to realize that maybe I was not headed in the right direction.
Picture

But you know how you tell yourself,
“I’ll just drive a little further and
if I don’t find what I’m looking for, I’ll turn back!!”?
Yup! That’s what I did for many years as I looked for the perfect time and  place to turn around
.

Picture
The problem is, sometimes you have just gone so far, that’s there’s no point turning around and going back.
It's time for, as the GPS says, "RE-CALCULATING"!!
Take a look at the new directions
 and keep moving forward!
BTW - moving forward is my “word” for 2022.

Do you have places in your life that you need to recalculate and just move forward?

What does the Word say?

The Bible says it best in Isaiah 43:18-19:
Picture
Here is the GOOD news!!!
WHENEVER, we get off track,
Jesus is THE way to get back on track!
He ALWAYS has the way, for He is the Waymaker!

The Recalculation

This is what I have come to realize
at this point of the journey!
I was travelling on a road thinking
I was supposed to be headed for perfection.
I tried to do the right thing, be the good girl,
say the right things or more accurately,
not say the wrong things,
lest someone get their feelings hurt
or stop associating with me.

It is so EXHAUSTING trying to be any form of perfect!

See the destination wasn’t wrong.
I was just on the wrong road to get there.
There is a place of perfection,
but it’s not based on my perfection; it’s based on His!

Somewhere when I looked around,
I realized it was crazy travelling down this road.
So I have been recalculating and
Jesus has been leading me on His road to perfection!
Picture

Biblical perfection refers to a place of completeness, maturity & wholeness, something we cannot achieve on our own but can only attain by
the Anointed One and His Anointing - Christ in us!
So while I have been travelling with Jesus for quite some time, I have begun to realize I am getting on the right track because He has shown me the Way to the road to perfection is in Him and only Him.

Now when I make mistakes and am not perfect, it’s ok! He shows me how to use them to help me grow!
And He shows me how to have compassion for others with their mistakes.

So my question is, are mistakes good or bad?
Neither!
They just are.
Bob Ross calls them "happy accidents".

If your mistakes and especially the mistakes of others, annoy you, then maybe check your GPS to see if you are on the wrong road to perfection!
Ask Jesus to recalculate you and put you on His road to His perfect completeness for your life.
He is a safe place to turn around. Don’t keep driving down the wrong road; you’ve been on it long enough. Recalculate, forget the former things, BEHOLD;
He wants to do a NEW thing in your life!

This is what Easter is about! It is why He cried out tetelestai, “It is Finished”, on the cross!!!
Jesus came to lead us to the Perfect One,
God the Father, removing sin from us
and restoring us to eternal life!!!
All that is required to receive this gift,
is to believe it in our hearts

Where are the places you have thought you blew it but have come to realize they were actually opportunities to make  needed changes
 in your life?

As long as there is breath in your lungs, it is never to late to turn around.

If you have questions about what Jesus did on Easter, contact me. I would be pleased to share more about Him!!
